COE Students Wins the Second Place in the University’s Water Sports Competition

It was bright and breezy on the Qizhen Lake of Zhejiang University(ZJU), Zijingang Campus on Saturday, May 22.Marking the 100th anniversary of the CPC's founding and the 124th anniversary of the university’s establishment,the 2021 ZJU annual water sports competition and the Ninth Dragon Boat Race of Colleges and Universities in Hangzhou were held. Nine dragon boat teams from Zhejiang University, Westlake University, China Academy of Art and other universities and colleges in Hangzhou got togetherfor this high-spirited and well-mannered contest.

The competition covered a wide range of water sports: dragon boat race, kayaking, paddle boarding, relay race and also a boat DIY contest. Boats sailing on the Qizhen Lake, was also implying another historical boat: the Red Boat, which honors the conclusion of the first National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 1921. The courageous and pioneering spirit of Red Boat was afloat in the splashed water and the beating drums.













Students from ZJU’s College of Education (COE) participated the competition and won the second place after a close battle with the Ocean College. ZHENG Yitong, an undergraduate student in Physical Education, and also a member of the COE dragon boat team, said she was happy with the silver and endeavoring with her fellow teammates, for everyone has tried their best and they were actually pretty close to the first place.
