Cooperation intention between the College of Education, ZJU, and the Confucius Institute and Faculty of Arts, University of Western Australia (UWA)

      On December 2, 2013, Krishna Sen, Dean and Professor of the Institute and Faculty of Arts, UWA, Dean and Professor Fan Hong, and Zhu Xianhua, Associate Professor and Executive Director of the Confucius Institute, UWA, visited the College of Education, Zhejiang University. 
      Dean Xu Xiaozhou warmly welcomed the delegation. Gilsun Song, Associate Professor, gave an overview of our college, departments, teaching and research specialties, and international cooperation, etc. Both sides exchanged ideas on degree programs, physical education and internships, and further cooperation. Both sides agreed to carry out various forms of cultural and educational exchange activities to promote communication and understanding under the university cooperation framework agreement. 
      At the meeting both sides agreed on cooperation purposes related to areas such as the exchange visits of staff and students, joint doctoral programs in physical education, sports industry management for undergraduate students’ cultivation in 3+2, the setting up of overseas Chinese students’internship bases, martial arts, and teaching Chinese in Australia, etc. 
      In 2014, July, the Confucius institute at UWA invited faculty members and student groups to visit UWA who and participate in the Asia Cultural Exhibition held by the Confucius institute. Both sides will extend communication and cooperation areas through academic communication, small seminars, martial arts performances, and joint publications. In addition, UWA invited our professors as main lecturers for “a series of lectures- Current China”through video-conference and to introduce Chinese higher education development—its reform and strategies for development. 
      Vice-director and Associate Professor Zhou Lijun and Associate Professor Shun Yuantao introduced our current students’ education and research. The meeting was successfully finished and both sides exchanged souvenirs and were looking forward to future collaboration.
